About the goldsmith, designer and the design.
Ragnhildur Sif Reynisdóttir is an Icelandic gold/silversmith and jewlery designer. Ragnhildur learned the trade at her father‘s jewellery shop Gull og Silfursmiðjan Erna ehf. She acquired her journeyman‘s degree and a Master craftsmanship diploma from the Technical College in Reykjavik. Ragnhildur finished a degree in jewellery design at the University of Central England, School of Jewellery in Birmingham and from there she went to Sheffield Hallam University where she graduated with a Master‘s degree in metal and jewellery design. In addition she has taken many courses related to design and metalwork, both in Iceland and abroad.
Ragnhildur gets her ideas and material from her youth as well as Icelandic nature. Indian jewellery, which is one of the oldest of jewellery design in the world, has fascinated Ragnhildur and consequently been an inspiration to her work.
Married to Gísli Sigurðsson, a physiotherapist, Ragnhildur and Gísli have 3 children; two girls, Hlín and Egla Sif and a boy, Gauti Þór.
In the year of 2001 Ragnhildur Sif started the company SIF JEWLERY and has been building the business ever since.
